About Me

My journey to becoming an Interior Designer took a bit of a winding path.  After my initial year of Phys. Ed. Studies at the University of Winnipeg, I transferred faculties and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design.  I know…one has nothing to do with the other.  It was a good decision.  Although I initially thought I was entering into a career of choosing colors and furnishings, I was pleasantly surprised to learn there is a lot more involved.  Interior Architecture is a much more comprehensive term to describe what Interior Design encompasses.  My education included space planning, drafting, electrical layouts and HVAC layouts, as well as fixtures and finishes.  Although designers are not typically responsible for load-bearing structures or analysis, a basic understanding is necessary when creating interior spaces.

My design philosophy is really quite simple – to create a space that meets your needs and gives you joy.  A successful project is one in which the client’s vision has been met both functionally and aesthetically.  Understanding and respecting what the client wants is key to achieving a favorable result.  Your interior should reflect your personality, not mine.  So, it’s imperative for me to get to know you in order to understand your needs and desires and then to translate them into good design.
